Baffled
Hi all , i have just purchased a new road bike unfortunately as its my first bike i was riding it home from the store and fell off.The reason i fell off was i had my feet inside the peddle straps came to stop and could not put my foot on the ground as i have not used these peddles before and forgot. However it was at a low speed and not a great deal of damage done except some paint rubbed off the quick release mechanism. Plus and this is my problem the gears will not move off the smallest cog (highest gear) nothing looks bent or damaged and the bike fell on the side where the gears arent. Many thanks in anticipation .

Is the chain stuck between the frame and the cassette? If you can turn the cranks and the wheel moves then this is not the problem, if the pedals do not turn then remove the wheel or just loosen the quick release reset the chain.

Go back to the shop and tell them what happened. We really can't diagnose all of the possible fixes from here.

Why not PEDAL it back to the store and ask them what's wrong?

Try pushing the whole big brake lever toward the center of the bike. That'll shift the chain off of that smallest cog.
