More Tire Questions
I just got my new tires in, and they pulled a switch on me. Not what I ordered.
I want to go to a 700 x 35 road tire, but I'm a bit confused on American equivelants. Is a 27 x 1-1/4 equivelant to a 700 x 35? |
Not at all - 27" inch tires and 700 c tires fit entirely different rims. What you can check is the bead seat diameter, which should be impriinted on the sidewall of all bicycle tires. A tire that fits a 700C rim should have a BSD of 622, a 27" tire 630. See http://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html for full info.
If one was merely looking at width only then 35c is about 1 3/8, and 1 1/4 is about 32c (mm actually |

Why not just reject them, and get the supplier to send you what you ordered?
I decided I'd rather have a 700x35 anyway, instead of the 700x38. Seemed like a good time to change it up. |
I've bought from this place, biketiresdirect, and they were OK. Have michelin city tire. they come in 700c by 35.

http://www.biketiresdirect.com/produ...city-tire-700c I just live about 70-80 miles down the road, but I've had tires delivered <24hours after ordering them. |

I want to go to a 700 x 35 road tire, but I'm a bit confused on American equivalents. Is a 27 x 1-1/4 equivalent to a 700 x 35? FWIW: Biketiresdirect is a stone's throw from me. However, I've bought a few tires online from Universal: http://www.universalcycles.com/ because they are also local, and I can pick up an order at the counter. They also have shop cats. |
