supplier for dropout spacers

My current dropout spacer seems too large and is not adjustable. Is there somebody who might sell road bike droputs in varies sizes or an adjustable one? trying to line the hub axle up with the derailluer. No spacer puts the hub too far back in the dropout and the current spacer pushes it too far forward. I know I can do it by hand and that is what I do in the garage but was thinking that changing a tire along the side of the road would be simpler with just pulling the wheel back until it seats in the dropout with correct size spacer. Thanks - Joe

Just practice a little more. It's not that hard to get the axle where you want it on the side of the road -- the key is to partially tighten the QR while lining it up so you can still push the wheel around.

Can someone fill me in as to what the hell this thread's about?

It doesn't seem to make sense whether 'dropout spacer' = derailleur claw, adjustment screws or axle spacers.

???

I'm pretty sure he means these:

He wants to pull the wheel back further so that the axle is over the mounting bolt for the derailleur, but his current spacers are too long and non-adjustable.

search for these "drop out adjusting screws"

If your drop outs don't accept them...might be time for a new bike!

So not about moving the derailleur bolt in the dropout hanger sideways?

the adjusters are just a convenience.. pay attention to the wheel and recenter the
tire between the chainstays, before you tighten the QR.. Joe..
nobody races on old stuff, anymore, so there is no hurry.

Back in the day it was a feature ..
