Powder coated bolt removal
I am in the process of having my frame powder coated and when I stripped the bike down I left the RD hanger bolt on the bike. I have contacted the PC but haven't received a call back. Worse case scenerio if he doesn't remove the bolt how can i get it removed with out damaging the finish or frame?
Thanks all

It MIGHT be ale to be removed without damage, you will have to score around it with a sharp knife then knock the paint of the outside or use an adjustable wrench to get it out if it's a hex head bolt. If it is a internal allen / torx head you might have to dig the paint out of it to get it out or use the next smaller hex key or even a SAE size to back it out. Results will probably NOT be perfect.

With careful use of an appropriate bit on a dremel, you could take the powdercoat off the fastener.
Or, you worry about it only if the hanger needs replacing, at which time you only have to clean up one side of it if it's a chainring-style bolt.

What you need is a spot sanding pen. https://www.amazon.com/K-Tool-Interna...ot+sanding+pen This uses tiny glass strands protruding from the end of the pen sized tool to make small, round sanding marks for paint, powdercoat, etc., removal. Just spin it between your fingers to sand just where you want it without getting scratch marks where you don't. I've seen them in most auto parts stores, Amazon, Ebay, etc.

Thank you all for your ideas and solutions. Heard from the PC last night the bolt was removed, bottom bracket and mounts all covered and protected. Can pick up the frame tonight and start the rebuild.

That's a good powder coater. I usually have to re-tap some of the threads to clean them out after a coating. (What area is this powder coater located in?)
