Looking for cheap bulk tubie glue...

I asked in CX and got nuttin so I thought I'd try here.

So would carpet cement work for tubular glue? ...For gluing to rim. It's latex based.

I've also read that Barge Cement works good.

But the hits I've found are referring to base tape and how it's more serious than rim glue. So can it double as rim glue?

Any cheap replacement for the Tubasti, etc.?

Keywords: adhesive, tubular, sewup... : )

In googling this I see how Jobst says liquid latex is the cat's meow for base tape gluing. Then in the costuming world I saw how instead of liquid latex some are using carpet glue. So...

Anyway, I tried it and it doesn't seem that sticky. I've let it cure a couple days. I've read that it takes awhile. Even then it didn't seem to make that strong of a bond. Not bad but not great. More time?

I've often seen recommendations for 3M's Weather Stripping Cement sold at automotive parts stores.

+1, this was SOP for many. But it's a very strong bond, and often stronger than the bond of the base tape to the tire, which can cause the base tape to separate when you remove the tire.

I have no experience with tubulars, but I've used 3M Weather Stripping Cement (both the old? yellow and the newer black) on auto/bike/etc applications for decades with extremely good results. Anyway, be sure to wear disposable gloves when using this stuff (unless you want to risk wearing it on your hands for a day or two).

IDK, Team Pros Get it from different sources than the Tifosi,
I'd look for ordering a Case of a dozen or 2, tubes, so the un opened ones won't setup , early.

ask LBS when, quantity, they get a price break to pass thru..
