Wire caps for break wire

This is a totally noob question and if anyone doesn't have the time sorry for wasting your time. I just wanted to know if your bike is safe to ride if one of these metal caps came off of the wire at the rear wheel of the bike.

I assume you are referring to the end caps at the clamp bolt, not the fitting where the brake (not break) cable enters the handlebar lever. Yes, there is no mechanical problem if this cap comes off, just that the ends of the wire past the clamp bolt can fray and be sharp. Otherwise, no problem.

You might poke a hole in a finger, with the wire, and get an infection .

When it matters, on my own bikes, I solder the part of the cable where I am going to cut it.

then, maintenance, I can pull, and add some more grease and put it back together..

Not that it matters but a brake is what stops a bicycle. A break is what might happen to your neck if the brake doesn't work.

Dribble a little super glue on the cut end of the cable before it starts to fray.

A short piece of small diameter shrink tubing heated with a match or lighter also works.

Suggest we let the Noob OP off the hook a bit. There are lots of web pages that give examples of how badly spell checkers mess up the intent of the senders. A lot of them are incredibly funny and embarrassing... but intent of this forum is to be helpfull and I think everyone saw that he was posting abouit his brake cable; regardless of spelling. Not saying that we should not give him a bit of a rub for it... just that we not let it drive the thread into a useless rabbit hole.

No safety issues besides a sharp edge poking out, but I definitely recommend what the others are saying about securing the wire strands in place with a dab of superglue, solder, heat, whatever.

Otherwise the strands of the cable can fray surprisingly easily, and it's a huge pain in the neck.

get the tetanus booster, just in case..

I note: in other languages, Break and Brake cannot be confused,
it's English that is the problem..
