7900 hubs... Is Shimano done making them?

or are they going to keep them in production for a while in parallel with the 9000 stuff? I was just shopping for some hubs and can't find the # holes I want on the front and the little shopping message said "no longer available" not "out of stock". I'm probably not going to move to 11 speed any time soon so I have no interest in building up a set of 10 speed wheels on an 11 speed hub.

Just curious.

Here is one source that has them in stock: http://www.coloradocyclist.com/produ...play/21005-01/

Well, I know there are places that have them in stock - I'm just wondering if I have to jump on them or if they'll be around for a while.

or just get ultegra hubs... each new generation, the features and quality bubbles down. today's 105 is probably every bit as good as dura-ace from 10-15 years ago.

If you buy them now and take decent care of them, you won't have to worry if they will be available in 10 years or so. Yours will still be in first rate condition.

Sure they might be effectively just as good, but they still won't be Dura Ace (if that's what the OP wants.) I don't think any Shimano hubs besides DA and XTR have titanium freehub bodies.

Yes - ultegra are about 93% as good as DA (probably) and it's unlikely that I'd notice a performance difference and in fact, my spare wheels are old mavic open pro rims on ultegra hubs, so I'm not prejudiced against them but I have a hankering to try some DA hubs next.

So are they still in normal production? Or are they being phased out and whatever is available is all that's available.

I kind of like the fact that the new 9000 hubs are available in black but I'd prefer not to deal with the spoke angles on an 11 gear hub if I'm only going to be using 10 speeds.

Thanks for the answers so far. :)
