Where to get Shimano Cones?

I have a wh-r500 wheelset that needs new cones and maybe ball bearings.... I have part numbers from shimanos website but am having a hard time finding replacement cones.... Are there "after market" alternate brand replacements that will fit? Or where can I find shimano hub parts?

some aftermarket is available from wheels mfg. you will need to match them up. you have to order parts from shimano. most LBS can do it

+1, Bike Shop.. the 'wheels' stuff is in the QBP stocklist.

The balls are generic and are available at any bike shop or industrial supply house or from almost any internet shop that deals with bikes, including Amazon. Specify Grade 25 balls in the proper diameter (typically 1/4" for rear hubs and 3/16" for front hubs) but measure yours first. The cones are more specific to the hubs but "will fits" of the right threading and length are available and Wheels Manufacturing (http://wheelsmfg.com/) is a large supplier of replacement cones for many hubs.

If your dealer can't order from Shimano call their US office in California and see if they can help:

Take the cone with you to the LBS, and hope the mechanic has topped up his cone kit recently. It's nearly impossible to measure it accurately, because there's hundreds of cones, but you should be able to get a "good enough" match if your shop is stocked.

Maybe if you "shared" those, it would make it easier for someone to help???
OR
the hub model number?

I was mainly looking for just the right rear cone but may just get all four to replace at once and the ball bearings too..

An way, at SJS they show the part # I'm looking for (Y-3AE 03100) and call it "Shimano Deore XT FH-M760 Rear Right Cone" :
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/shimano-d...310-prod17280/

At the Wheels Manufacturing website they show a cone for a Shimano XT M760 (part# CN-R098) :
http://wheelsmfg.com/products/all-co...r098-10mm.html

So it seems that maybe my wheel (WH-R500), and the XT-760 hubs use the same cones...

Loose Screws has always been a good source; http://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi...d=724074132082 They are going out of business so you get a big discount..

So I've just been looking for a cone for a front WH-R550 to no avail at any of the above linked joints, but managed to dig one up here: http://www.moruyabicycles.com.au/con...hub-spare.html

Shimano Dealer website is showing right cones for rear WH-R500 wheel, but out of stock on the left cones. Front cones are available, as are front and rear bearings.

If you can't find them elsewhere, I'll be happy to order you some on our next order. Send me a message if you want them.
