Bottom Bracket for Nashbar CR2 compact crankset
I know I need an ISIS drive BB, but can it be any old ISIS with the right spindle length, or do I need a Nashbar BB to be compatible with the Nashbar crank?

As far as I know, ISIS parts are all intended to be cross-compatible.

That's correct. ISIS was a public access (i.e. patent rights licenses were made available at no charge) "standard" and as long as the spindle length is right they are all interchangeable. BTW, because there were several makers, the quality of ISIS bottom brackets varied widely so buy a good one if you can.

the ISIS design was a reaction to proprietary Shimano Octalink , made to be used by many manufacturers.
As we note, Shimano dropped that, at the upper range, for the External bearing design.
their lower range cranks are square taper..
