Need advise regarding suspension forks.

Hello Everyone,

Greetings from Bangladesh.

Recently I bought this Trek 4300 and am seriously thinking about taking cycling as a hobby. This is probably a 2002/2003 model. The in-sync fork that came with it does not work and I am looking for a good replacement. I have a friend in the US who will be able to send me a fork within the $100 -$120 range.

I do not have any idea about what I am dealing with here. Please advise if the RockShox XC28 - Coil 100mm 26-Inch 9mm will be a good fork for my bike.

Best regards,
Ahmed

The XC 28 replaces the old Dart model, which replaced the Judy T2. They're an oil-damped fork, higher models have adjustable rebound and lockout. They're heavy, but rebuildable, parts are available, and they'll perform reasonably well. The fork you have on there is most likely a simple sprung fork, with plastic bushings, and no oil damping.
