bottom bracket assistance

1 Attachment(s)
I recently bought a new bottom bracket . My issue with it is the drive-side of the bottom bracket doesnt tighten all the way. It's atleast 3/4 in. However, the non-drive side ( left side ) cup tightens in all the way. What could be the issue ,how can i get it fixed , and is it ride-able? It is pretty sealed tight, so my main question is whether its rideable like that or not.

i did apply grease as well. Do you think its because i didnt apply enough grease?

Often slightly mis-aligned threads on the BB shell make the second side very difficult to tighten. I always take a minute to check the threads on both sides (both the BB and the BB shell) by trying each side separately. If each side threads by itself, but not together, then you're looking at a thread alignment problem.

Sometimes, besides using grease, it can be easier to thread both sides together at the same time, then when nearly all the way, stop and finish the fixed side to the bottom, then finish the 2nd side.

Do you think its rideable?

No. Sort it out - it won't take long, and it'll be well worth your while.

Not until you get the BB installed properly. If you ride it that way it'll loosed very quickly, and you might do some damage to the threads.

OP: Take everything back out and start over. First inspect the drive side threads after a thorough cleaning. If ok, then install the drive side cup first. Get it right first, all the way in and tightened to OEM specs first. Inspect that cup where it mates to the BB shell. There should be no space or gaps between the cup and the shell anywhere around the entire circumference.

When the drive side cup (aka Fixed Cup) is right, then proceed with the other steps.
