Speedplay Zero Float Issue

I run my Speedplay Zeros with no float. Just switched up to new cleats, and despite ensuring the float mechanism is locked out, and the screws holding the cleat to the baseplate are properly tight, there is still some float, more than the usual tiny bit of float that you have even when the the float is locked out. This did not happen with my old cleats. Are these cleats defective, or is there something I am overlooking?

Call Speedplay directly. They are very good about answering their phone and should give you the info you need. E-mail to them is a lot less prompt.
