Inner chainring bolts

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to use outer chainring bolts as a substitute for inner chainring bolts? I am having a problem finding them here in Sweden and can only find chainring bolts on Chain Reaction but their inner ones are out of stock.

Maybe. All of the outer chainring bolts I've seen are M8. Inner chainring bolts I have are both M8 and M6 with the M6's having an unthread shoulder to position the chainring. So, if your crank has an M8 threaded granny ring bolt circle, yes, outer bolts will work.

Great info. Thanks, I will check.

One caveat, and it depends on your crank. Some cranks have shoulders that the ring fits against directly. For these, you'd use a double bolt.

But some cranks use a spacer between the ring and crank arm. That needs more length to reach through and get enough thread engagement on the arm.
