Chain ring
I have a 6 speed beach cruizer style bike (Ross Shark) that has a standard 14-28 freewheel and one piece crank. I recently bought a bike trailer to tow my 2.5 year old in and contray to all of the amazon reviews that said "i dont even know its back there" i do know its there!! I looked at changing the freewheel to a 14-34 with the granny gear, but would rather change the chainring since the free wheel is new and the chain ring is 20 years old. I see this chain ring with 36 teeth but it has a guard on both sides of the chain ring and I am not sure if that will interfear with the gear changing .http://www.jbimporters.com/web/check...t_number=21524 I also see other chain rings but the are for 1/8 chains and i did not think they would work with the 3/32 setup on the bike now. Am i missing something or should this be a big improvement? I changed the sprokect on my Raleigh 3 speed last year and 4 teeth made a big difference. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Mike |
I recently installed a double-guard alfine crank on a 7speed bike and the guards did not hinder shift performance. If the ring is centered with relation to the freewheel, the chain will not rub the guards.

Hi,
The guards are miles away from the chain and simply can't rub. rgds, sreten. |
Thanks!
