Removing decals on a Trek...

I have a trek 2100 and I am tired of the OCLV decal on the carbon seat stays. I want to remove them but I am afraid of damaging the stays. The stickers do not appear to be under the clearcoat. How do I remove them? Thanks

Go to your vendor of choice and buy a bottle of "Goo Gone." Put some on a Q-tip and dab it over the decal. You don't want to get this all over the carbon part, just on the decal. Wait about 20 minutes, and re-apply. After the second 20-minutes, gently pry the edge of the decal with your fingernail and it should come off, leaving a sticky residue behind. Apply one final coat of Goo Gone to the residue, and wipe clean with a rag. After this is done, WASH THE PAINT with water and soap or the solvent will continue to disolve stuff. Finally, use the wax or polish of your choice to restore a protective coat over the place where the decal was. I've done this to decals on my car paint, and it has worked fine. Good luck!

my58vw, when you are going to get that madone that you want just go all black with no logos or goast logos, damn that would look good!

I used my wife's hair dryer. Very satisfying to heat up the decal and then just peel it away.

Someday...

I will try the go gone stuff and see if it works... I just feel that the decal is out of place on the carbon stays... I love all the other stickers...

My madone I want with the carbon clear coat look with the trek in ghost colors...

don't buy anything. just hit the sticker with a hair dryer for a few seconds to warm it up, and it will come right off without leaving any residue!!! i removed every single sticker on my trek 6700 in less than 15 minutes doing this!!!! looks much better!
