Kmc chain, shimano mech, SRAM cassette -- any issues?

Hi all, it's time for me to replace my road cassette, and I'm thinking about getting a sram instead of shimano. I understand that shimano chains and sram cassettes are compatible, and vice-versa, and I'm told by my LBS that a KMC chain will work on either as well. I'm wondering if there's any potential issue with running a sram cassette, shimano derailleurs, and the KMC chain together.

The reason for doing so is that I'm gradually aiming to upgrade from tiagra to rival. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

The only issue is that when you aren't looking, they'll declare war on each other and your bike will become collateral damage.

Otherwise, as long as they're all matched for the number of speeds, and the rest is right they'll be fine.

No worries...I have a nine speed SRAM cassette and a 9 speed KMC chain, my bike came from the factory with that combo.
