I find the twisted tooth design to be a PITA, when used with friction levers. The problem is they shift too well - even when I don't want to shift. The beauty of old style (non-hyperglide, twisted) cogs is that they will stay on the selected cog for a wide variation of derailleur position. This keeps desired cog selection for the overshoot/trim shift as well as the inevitable gradual movement of the derailleur due to road vibration.

The trim function is incorporated into the top jockey wheel on derailleurs designed for index shifting. That may make it easier for shifting with a friction lever. It should eliminate the need for overshoot/trim shifting. However, my 40 year old derailleur still shifts almost like new. I see no reason to change, so long as I can still get freewheels without those twisted teeth.

I haven't had that problem. Maybe because I use Simplex Retrofriction shifters and Suntour ratcheting Barcons and gradual shifter movement from road vibration is not inevitable.
