Broken/chipped teeth on chain ring? (Pic)

Thank in advance for the help... I have a Specialized Expedition that I bought new at my LBS last week. After putting around 30 miles on it, I was inspecting it to see how it's holding up and saw this. Is this normal? Should I be worrried? I don't see any broken teeth, just the wear shown in the pic. FYI I'm 6'1 and 300 lbs so my weight may be the cause.

Those are shift gates- specially designed to make the bike shift better. Since the chain hits them as it moves between rings, it wears the anodized coating off of the rings in pretty short order.

Thanks for the quick reply. I did some googling and found out the shift gates are supposed to be shorter. So the coating coming off is normal?

yes- the inside of the chain links rubs them during each shift- the anodized coating is really thin, so it will wear off quickly.
