Headset grease ?

Can I use auto motive grease on headset ? If not what bike specific grease should I use ? thanks

Automotive bearing grease will work just fine.

As long as you don't ride in extreme cold during the winter, you'll be fine. As a long term user of automotive greases on bikes, I can tell you from experience, that many auto greases stiffen up enough when cold to make a headset feel like it's binding, and can make steering control difficult.

Mobil 1 grease, my favorite! I get it in tubs at Pep Boys.

For a headset, ideally, use the thickest grease you can find. But yeah automotive grease is fine.

As said heavier grease would be ideal but you can use pretty much any good guality autimotive or bicycle grease just fine. For headsets slightly heavier auto acually works a little better.

A click in the headset area is not necessarily the headset, and is unlikely the headset bearing. You may just need to tighten bars/stem or perhaps lubricate the interface as appropriate. Look up procedures at parktool.com/blog, sheldonbrown.com.

Interesting that you have managed to avoid spell check on 3 different words that still form legit words when split - automotive, headset and tomorrow

I want to thank you for pointing out about the spell check thing. I will be contacting them at the beginning of the week. To inform them of the problem. Thanks again for pointing this out.:thumb:

He forgot to mention to night (tonight). I don't know if you're being facetious or not, but spell check programs only check whether words exist, not whether they're the right word for the text.

Yes a little, I was out in garage called in for dinner typed fast to get in post. Did not pay that much attention. Hunger over spelling.
