I just got myself a new Shimano 105 Bottom Bracket. All the manuals say I should treat the threads of the BB with a locking compound. The BB threads appear to have some sort of grayish green compound on them already. Is this something similar to loctite?

Yeah, and i always slather on some extra grease. There is no point to locking compound on BB anyway.
