New noise

Went out this morning and when I'm pedaling under a load, as the left pedal gets to the bottom of the stroke I hear a fairly loud "click" from somewhere around the bottom bracket. If I'm just soft pedaling I don't hear anything. I just cleaned and lubed the bike and still hear it. Any ideas? It's a Trek 1.2 with around 1000 miles on it.

You lubed the pedals?

Yes.

Start by removing both pedals, cleaning both the threads and most importantly the faces where the pedal meets the crank. Reinstall and tighten tighter than you did before. With luck that's all it'll take. Otherwise, it's probably that you assembled the left pedal or the BB loose.

As you cleaned and lubed afterward I am assuming that you did not do any BB or pedal work just before the problem occurred. Given that I second FB's advice, and would emphasize that you need to do the procedure to both pedals, as sometimes a click can be caused at the point where pressure is released, rather than when it is applied. Tightening the crank arms may also be needed, but use care not to gorilla-wrench it. A standard length ratchet and properly sized metric socket will do it fine. If it still clicks you are into some detective work - or a shop is.
