Campy compatable 9 spd. cassette on a Shimano hub

Is it possible to get a 9 spd. cassette for a Shimano hub to work with Campy? I know I could use a shiftmate, but are there any other ways, such as respacing a Shimano, SRAM, etc. cassette?

Why don't you just Try it as it is? the spacing is .2mm different, but close enough that it usually works. Otherwise, there are aftermarket cassettes.

Both Wheels Manuf. and American Classic make a cassette that is Campy spaced but Shimano splined, nicknamed "Shimagolo" by some mechaincs.

I'm running 9 speed shimano casette with campagnolo 9 speed ergopower levers and derailleurs no problem. Adjustment is not quite as forgiving as shimano/shimano but if adjusted correctly it changes quick, doesn't jump or skip, I can change gears off the seat like I could with STI and it works fine, good enough to race on.

As others said, try it, it should work.

Now, from Sheldon Brown's page, spacing is 4.55 mm for Campagnolo vs 4.34 mm for Shimano.
So if things don't work properly, you could replace one or two of the 9-speed spacers with old spacers from an 8-speed cassette, which are 0,44 mm thicker.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like I don't have too much to worry about. I'm basically considering getting some Xenon Ergo levers and derailleurs so I can get an idea if I like Campy. I can get them for a little over $100 US. If I don't like Campy, I guess I can sell them or even give them away, and I wouldn't be out a lot of money.
