hey guys im new here and i was told to repost this in this discussion group in case u have read this before

i have a few questions
i just recently acquired a 2000 fuji finest and im looking for a new stem
bike has full sora 3X8 components ritchy head set 1"threadless 100mm stem
im looking for between an 85 mm stem or a 90 mm stem
any clues as to who still makes 1" threadless stems or maybe a 1 1/8 to 1" shim
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks for your time

You might have the easiest time just getting a shim and opening up the whole world of modern 1 1/8" stems. However, your Fuji also probably has a 26.0mm handlebar clamp (and most modern stuff is 31.8mm clamp).

eBay is probably your best bet, particularly for the older 1" threadless stems.

Here's a shim on eBay

Only stem I was able to find in 1" threadless with 26.0mm clamp was 100mm, which you already have.

If your stem isn't a right-angle and is currently flipped down (so the stem is horizontal) you could flip it "up" (so it rises about 34 degres above horizontal) which would bring the bars closer to you.

go custom and you can have a stem of your dreams ,

the 1" to 9/8" shim to use what is made is as easy as dropping by the LBS and asking.

The OP should simply buy a 1-1/8" x90mm stem with the right angle and clamp. There's a decent selection still available with 26mm clamps including NOS Thomsons, and on down to some generic types. I have both Thomsons and Oval Concepts available NOS, but they're kind of pricy for what the OP probably needs to spend. There are plenty of 26mm stems out there.

Stem shims are readily available and work fine.

This probably won't work, but I won't let that stop me....

awesome guys thanks for all the replies ill check my lbs tomorrow and see what they can do for me as far as a shim goes
i was worried about the shims as in safety wise i have talked to a few people and they say go for it just make sure its tight
i have a bunch of stems in 1 1/8 with the smaller clamp size witch is needed for my bars
so i thank u all again
