Question about online retailers.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the online retailer www.lickbike.com

They seem to have everything that I need to order (Tool Kit , and Ultimate work stand ) and their prices are far better than I can find anywhere else. I'm new to the bike repair scene, and would like to make sure that I'm getting a good deal without waiting forever for the product. They seem too good to be true. Does anyone there have any information that would help me?

Thank you.

that site looks horrible. I've never heard of them but that doesn't say much...

http://www.performancebike.com/
http://www.jensonusa.com/

those two have been around for long enough to trust.

I'm sure there are others.

Lickbike is fine by me, I've ordered from them and they were fast and reliable. They are a bit odd in that they do NOT take online orders, their website is just a catalog and you do orders by phone. That they never paid to develop a "shopping cart" and "checkout" online retailer system may be one reason why they can offer such good prices, effectively turning the online retailer marketing model on its head.

Very Funny.

I can tell you that they have an excellent reputation--especially with the cycling fans on rec.bicycles.*--but ask me next week whether or not my Assos bib shorts really arrived....

Licton's has some really great prices and they are a reliable shop. Unlike most online places you need to place your order by phone (or mail, I suppose) but the people on the phone seem to know a few things about what they sell. I have only a few experiences with them, but prompt shipping and no problems.

I am a nashbar fan. Nashbar ships fast, has awesome prices.

I have not ordered from JensonUSA, but my buddy has, and they ship very fast too. Plus, they're on the west coast, so he gets stuff in like 2 days.

Performance bike delivers, but when they say up to 10 business days, they mean it.

I bought many time from Lickton Bike. They are not really an on-line retailer as you must call them to place an order.. Always nice, and always prompt shipping..

Just got an order delivered this morning from Lickbike that I had placed on-line last Wednesday. Everything went smoothly. Prices are great but not for all their items and I usually couldn't be bothered doing the price match thing. Generally you can probably do better with Performance coupons.

I didn't like them before because they only accepted phone order + the guy I had on the other end of the line seemed like I was seriously bothering him (I think it's called... rude), that for some reason stayed anchored in my memory, wonder why.. . Nevertheless, I thought I'd give it another shot with their new on-line service and it went ok.

we're an online retailer (http://store.wdbike.com). we were a local mobile shop, but that wasn't going anywhere so we're trying to build some market share online. our site is still not 100%, but we're getting there. not doing so well yet, so any feedback would be appreciated. we're also new enough that you can probably talk us down in price for word of mouth recommendations

incidentally, lickbike.com is very reputable.

Lickton is a real shop, to my knowledge (unlike Walmart-ish mail-order outlets), and their people know what they're talking about. I've had only good experiences with Lickbike, and their selection of road parts is very good. As well as their prices.
The *are* doing online orders now; they've added shopping cart technology.

Finally, to those people comparing Performance and Nashbar, be advised that Performance is a conglomerate that owns Nashbar and Supergo, but keeps them seperate for market-niche reasons. Fyi.

I was going to order a jersey from Lickton online a while back, but needed to call them to discuss sizing. They were very helpful and friendly. They were out of stock right then but said they had a new order arriving the next day. Sure enough, I got it right when they said I should. I'd definitely order from them again!

Yep, I've used 'em. The telephone person knew his stuff and the prices were good.
I'd use them again.

Lickton's has a retail shop in Chicago that is very small and unimposing looking with next to nothing in the "showroom" in front. However, they have a huge warehouse area in back and do most of their selling by phone/mailorder. You can buy nearly anything at the retail shop but they have to go in back to get it. Also, they are vocal Campyphiles and push Campy components whenever they can.

They have been around for a long time and have a good reputation.

And they are one of the few retailers carrying the Tektro R200A brake lever, a cheaper yet nearly identical lever as the Cane Creek SRC-5. Bought one pair, and will likely buy a second pair.

I've had very good luck dealing with Lickton & have ordered by phone as well as on line. Just got a Topeak J/B Pro floor pump from them yesterday & they had the best pricing I could find on line. Same for the Cateye CD200HW I got from them 6 weeks ago. They also seem to have much better shipping rates then either Nashbar or Performance particularly if you order on line. I was only charged $7 shipping for the pump which is pretty good size & it came by UPS. Both Nashbar & Performance have charged me more for smaller items & sent it by US mail.
