cruiser seat post bolt

Hey guys and girls. I recently purchased an old practically bomb proof single speed cruiser that I want to rock but theres one problem. The seat post bolt seems to be stuck in place and the bolt heads are stripped. I can't tighten it (even with vice grips holding one side) and it won't come off either. Basically the bolt is as loose as it can get as it barely even holds the seat up but it won't come out? Any solutions that don't involve cutting torches or anything of that sort?

You'll have to cut the bolt somehow. Try using a cold chisel to cut off one end of it. Replace it with a quick release.

That is a bit of a brute force approach that may bugger something else. Being able to see it would help, but a hacksaw blade or demel too might be a better option.

Great way to trash the bracket and possibly the frame.
Better to use a Hacksaw or Dremel.
Enjoy

I've cut several seat post binders with a cold chisel without damaging anything else. I manage a fleet of 360 beach crusiers on Hilton Head, and you lrean quite a few shortcuts along the way.

If this was a nut and bolt thing I'd suggest a nut splitter.

bikes are only steel
they never heal from damage
do not take short-cuts

Enjoy

"Shortcuts" and "Meatball mechaincs" are two separte things. Besides, most of my bike are aluminum.

Try making a relevant haiku with aluminum

use a hacksaw or dremel. Then get if you don't already have a qr get a seatpost bolt from your LBS. If all else fails you can get a bolt and locknut from the hardware store.
