Is this tire trashed?
Had a nice puncture last week. While wiping my tires down last night after a ride, I felt a slight lump. Seems the puncture has gotten worse. I have a piece of gorilla tape on the inside at the moment. But since I can see cord, is this tire done? Or can I shoe goo this bad boy?

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter
You can shoe goo, to close the hole, but the issue is the damage to the cords which hold the tire against air pressure. A proper fabric boot can probably make this last a long time, but the tip off is whether you can feel a bump or thump when riding.
If you do, it means the cords are pulling apart, and the tire getting larger before blowing out (it's like the rope fraying as Wiley Coyote is hanging from it). One you feel bumping it's a matter of minutes, or maybe an hour before the tire lets go.
I use bootted tires on the commuter if they're otherwise in great shape, but only on the road bike as an emergency repair to get me home.

I just boot and eschew the shoe goo. IMO, it serves no useful purpose, but does no harm, so by all means...
I just keep an eye on it and if shows signs of getting significantly worse, I replace. I prefer to keep the sketchier of the two tires on the rear.
