Bicycles-are they still the main city transportation-in terms of people miles in china?
More than public transportation?
More than cars?

Have you been there more than once-eyeball estimate-is bike use dropping?

First time. In talking with people who know, it has dropped with more cars and electric scooters along with more mass transit. Saw plenty of bikes but not as many as I expected.

AFAIK, based on conversations with folks who've been there, bike remain the main form of transit in smaller cities and rural areas, but much less so in the larger cities.

Meanwhile, outdoor stall bike shops remains extremely common outside of the USA, Europe, and a few other countries. You see them all over Africa, Asia, Mexico and South America, which the bike shop as we know it is the exception.

Thanks
bikes are cheap transportation-and if the road path isn't pure mud-certainly much faster than walking.
