Upgrading SRAM 9

So on the Sun EZSpeester AX I just purchased, it has all OEM SRAM X9 components throughout. I want to upgrade a step or two to better SRAM components. This would include changing out the grip shifters to trigger shifters. Just like them better. So can anyone recommend what route I should take? It has Avid mechanical disc brakes too but only need pads I think.

Should I stay with SRAM or change to Shimano stuff like XT or XTR even? I know it's a lot of work but I like GOOD components on my ride.

Pros/Cons?

Thanks all.

X9 is good stuff, there are only two levels above it. If you want trigger shifters, just get some x9 triggers to the replace the twist shifters.

I have 9 speed X9 triggers on one bike and they work very well indeed.

Thanks to all. I am glad to hear X9 is good stuff. I'm going up to X0 components ie triggers, front and rear derailleurs and cassette. New KMC chain and smaller crank rings due to the hills here in WV.:notamused:

At some point, maybe a new wheelset and tires. Has FSA cranks now so will keep them.

Here are a couple pics for you to view. Thanks again. Newbie Dan

Make a Bike shop Visit, still not seeing enough ..

I'd upgrade the grip shifter to be shifting a Rohloff Hub, in the back wheel.

if you want Upgrades Make it a big one and not incremental.

On my Sun Easy Sport I upgraded the X9 shifters and rear der to XO. I could barely tell the difference. The two upgrades that made the most difference were better wheels (cartridge bearing hubs) and Schwalbe Kojak folding tires. The tires virtually eliminated road buzz and Velocity wheels/hubs are lighter, stronger and smoother than stock wheels. bk

I suspect that the only difference you will notice is the lightness of your wallet.
