Cassette Setup Question
 

Doing my first freehub wheel and cassette setup on a new set of wheels. The wheels are Vuelta Corsa's with 130mm spacing and 10-11sp capability.

My question is what will I need for spacers and/or additional parts to install a shimano 7sp HG20 cassette? The hub is shimano-ready.

You may not need any spacers or anything else other than the cassette and lockring. The cassette comes with it's own internal (sprocket to sprocket) and most include lockrings.

However, you may (MAY, not WILL) need a 2mm or so spacer behind the cassette to bring it out so it overhangs the frone of the freehub and th lockring can compress it without bottoming against the freehub. This varies brand to brand, and I never sweat about it, and deal with it if/when I need to.

it may need a 4.5mm spacer. readily available from ebay for a couple bucks.

My LBS sells them for $2 IF they have them in stock.

That spacer they say is for putting a 7sp onto a 8-9sp hub body. Mine is 10-11sp capable. This is what is confusing me. Did I get the wrong wheelset for a 7sp setup?

You probably didn't get the "correct" wheel.
I'm too ignorant about the 10/11 speed free Hub body dimensions.
The 4.5mm spacer is used to put on a 7 speed cassette on a 8/9/10 speed body.
I "think" the 10/11 speed body is slightly longer yet, but I don't know by how much.
I imagine, using a bit more spacer would work.
The downside-
The longer the FH body is, the greater the amount of dish is required for the wheel.
Note how the DS spokes run "straighter" to the hub than the NDS-
This results in a greater difference between DS & NDS spoke tension.

Your hub should "work" with enough spacing, but the best scenario would have been a "true" 7 speed hub (getting harder to find a wheel set with that) which would have resulted in a more symmetrical wheel.

You will certainly need the 4.5 mm spacer required to use a 7-speed cassette on an 8/9/10-speed freehub. You will probably need another 1 or 2 mm of spacers to compensate for the slightly longer 11-speed compatible freehub body.
