Avid Shorty Ultimate Spring Tension issue

(This could simply be a result of late night brain failure, but I'm getting desperate)

I am working to install A set of Shorty Ultimates on a new frame, and having some difficulty.

When I go to set the spring tension on the right front brake (drivetrain side), it consistently 'snaps' back, releasing all of the energy in the spring. On all of the other brake arms, I haven't experienced anything like this--just the one arm.

I appreciate any help or insight than anyone can offer.
