Replacing or repairing a Simplex Super Competition FD..?
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
I'm brand new to this site so please be nice to me :) I'm currently restoring a vintage danish bike (SCO) from '81. Its equipped with a 10 speed Simplex Super Competition set of derailleurs. Shifters are mounted on the stem. The FD (see attachment for more accurate info on model etc.) broke in half so now I'm looking for a replacement for both FD and RD that will fit shifters and cassette/ no. of sprockets (two in front and five rear). I want to keep it vintage and low budget. I've googled my way through a lot of other Simplex models but I'm not quite sure what fits - especially with the shifters... I'm planning on replacing the FD now and the RD whenever it stops working or breaks in half. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=376080 |
Hi Dansken, welcome. Don't worry, most of us are pretty nice here, not so much in other areas of the site... I gather the road forum can be pretty snarky.

As for what fits, pretty much any old FD should work; compatibility in the friction era was near universal, and I'm a monkey's uncle if it isn't a 28.6mm clamp. |
Hi Kimmo,
thanks for the welcome. You're not a monkey's uncle, it's definitely a 28,6 mm clamp. I'll try and see what the good folks in C&V have to say. |
