Hello again it looks as if my bike should be deemed unsafe to ride if I were to go ahead and use my old headset bearings. It was my first time taking my bike apart and I did it kinda rough here you can see the damage. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=376637 my headset is a zero stack and the bike shop employee told me it was 41mm, might be 44.

Whatever you have, it looks to be in very poor / broken condition. For headsets, you just need to know the SHIS for it, you can ID this through this https://www.canecreek.com/tech-center/headsets/shis

41mm sounds wrong for a ZS, as ZS are normally 44mm (1"1/8th), IS are 41mm

That description fits dozens of Cane Creek headset models so it's necessary to be a lot more specific. If you can't locate the exact model, a revisit to the LBS may be necessary to pin it down.

The bike business is unlike the auto business in that component spec info is not always listed by the manufacturer, and not always consistent. The traditional method to determine the dimensional spec is to measure the parts directly. If one is unable to do this themselves that taking said components to the LBs is the best nest option.

As discussed in another recent thread... shop help in measuring specs comes with some obligations. Andy.

I would like to go ahead and re use my bearing race as seen in the picture, will it cause any problems? the balls do not fall out and it still rotates.
