Ultegra 6600 compatibility
Hi all,
I'm not ready to upgrade to a Shimano 10 spd grouppo, but I really like the design and appearance of the Ultegra 6600 crankset. Has anyone used a 6600 with a 9spd/double Shimano grouppo (Ultegra)? I have read somewhere it should work, but Shimano doesn't recommend it. I'd like to hear from someone who has actually tried it and found it to be a reliable thing to do.
Editorial comment and other info: I even prefer the appearance of the Ultegra 6600 to the DA (7800?). The big chain ring looks too different on the DA. I bought the XT equivalent for my MTB. The design is soooo slick. So I would like to install 6600 on my 9spd, double Ultegra equipped road bike if I find a good deal. Maybe someday I'll upgrade to the to speed on my road bike.
