Klein internal cable housing

ok, we all make some dumb mistakes.......
my most recent mistake, quite a bit dumber then the average, is pulling my rear derailleur cable out of the internal cable housing and then realizing i just made for myself probably the most irritating problem to fix :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

does any one have any idea's whatsoever?

I feel for you man. I've had to do this on a couple of customers bikes. After some trial and error, I found this procedure seems to work best for me. Get a thin piece of stiff wire (solid copper electric wire works good). With a little manipulating and a lot of patience you should be able to slide it through. Once you've done that, attach your cable securely (I use tape) and pull through carefully. Hope this works for you.

It's not too much of a problem. Get some rigid tubing, put it through, feed the cable through it then pull out the tubing. Or get a strong magnet and use it to pull the end of the cable out the exit hole after feeding it as far in as you can. Aluminum is non-magnetic, but the steel cable is very magnetic - works like a charm.

If there really is a housing, it shouldn't be a problem to pull the cable through.
Otherwise, apart from the tricks suggested above, another idea would be to run full housing outside the frame.

No. There is no "housing". On Klein bikes the cables feed through the frame. So they float (taut) inside the tubing. If you have something stuck inside your frame tubes it's probably the plastic tubing used to feed the cable. If that's stuck in there then you may have a problem getting it out. Is that the case? Something's stuck inside your downtube or toptube?

You know that's blasphemy. :D

I feel for you. I have Klein Q-carbon and have been down that road.

1. If the original Klein cable routing guides are floating around in the tubes you can get them out. If its the gear cable guides you have to remove the crankset and BB then shake the frame up and down. Eventually they will fall into the BB shell.

2. On later model frames the rear brake ferrel is threaded. Thread the aappropriate sized screw 4mm X 0.8 ? and pull. The ferrel will come out giving you a much larger opening to work with. It takes alot of manipulating and shaking but the guide will coem out. Trust me.

3. As far as threading a new deraiileur cable....well, as noted above use a very strong magnet. I spent well over an hour trying to do mine. I broke out the magnet and 15 seconds later....

Klein has very detailled instructions buried in their website.
