Brake pads to tight.

Hi,

These are my first hydraulic brakes. They're Clarks EXO. I had to cut the hose a bit and bleed the brakes but now the pistons don't want to go all the way back, even if a try pushing them with a screwdriver. It's so tight I can't even put the wheel back because the disc won't fit in. I can't even fit the original spacer. I've read the instruction for bleeding hydraulic brakes with top reservoir in a bike mechanic book, it said to fill the reservoir all the way up, do I need to keep a little air cushion for space to push the fluid back when I push the piston? It seems that every time I'm letting a bit of fluid out the space get slightly larger.

Thanks

It's been a long time for me, but I believe it's necessary to push the pucks back with the bleed valve open, so the excess oil can be pushed out of the system.

However, as I said, it's been a while so reread the tech docs, or wait for someone to confirm or correct the above.

It sounds like you bled them without a spacer(bleed) block installed between the pads. You can do as FB suggests and open the bleed valve slightly and push the pads back, which will let a small amount of fluid out of the system.
