What are the capabilities/limitations of this hub?

I built a wheel set in a wheel building class last fall, and am now trying to build a bike around those wheels, adding a Soma ES frame. Now I'm thinking about components.

The rear hub that they provided is a Shimano Tiagra FH-4600.

One of the options I'm considering is a full 105 (10-speed) groupset if I can find one within my budget, and with the options that I need (e.g. 57mm reach calipers). However, I don't know whether this hub would accommodate a 105 cassette.

If not, one of the options I'm considering is aero brake levers and downtube shifters, so it would be helpful to know what my options are for cassettes to mount on this hub.

Thanks!

You shouldn't have any problems. The FH-4600 is listed as a 10 speed hub. The differences between the Tiagra and 105 is mostly cosmetic.

Any 8,9, or 10 speed Shimano or SRAM cassette will fit on that hub

+1. Also SunRace or IRD. Cassette body dimensions are somewhat standardized.

Great - I was concerned that I might be somewhat restricted by someone else's choice here.

Thanks!
