Elite Super Lite Fork?

I have the opportunity to drop 1041.7g from my mtb if I go from my suspension fork to a rigid one. Since I only use the bike for utility purposes on the street, I have to get honest with myself about needing suspension. What I'd like to know is if anyone has heard of a company (out of Taiwan, apparently) called Elite. They have a fork called the Super Lite Tec Scandium for sale at my favorite online auction house, and I can't seem to find any information on them. Since the fork is something that I definitely don't want to malfunction, I thought I'd ask you fine people. I looked at the Surly Instigator 1.0 fork, too, but, being steel, it is 600g heavier than the one in question.

ask the seller ' on your favorite online auction house'

seems a lot of stuff wanting to use the image 'Elite' conveys ..

most of the bike stuff is coming out of Taiwan as it is.

I think that the Op should seek a 1041.8gm weight loss and not screw around with anything less :) Andy.

Why don't you just post the link so we can see what you're talking about?

+1
Every 100 milligrams count.

should be fine. but if you're looking to go light, you could save maybe another pound by going with a carbon fork.

Please! That's 453,592,370 micrograms.

Fiet, I'll ask the seller if it comes with a warantee.

Andrew, when you don't know the answer to a question, don't bother replying.

Huey, Thanks. That is a great suggestion. I've not bought anything carbon, yet, so I wasn't sure of the weight contrasts.

There's no reasonable question here. Get the steel Surly fork and save yourself from more misery fretting about useless stuff...

Paul- I really think you were trying to get affirmation to your decision to loose 1041.7gm by the installation of this fork. It is not wrong that you're concerned about the fork manufacturer and any reputation you can learn of. But that you bothered to state the weight loss to the tenth of a gram... as though it really is an important factor in how the bike rides. Sorry if I took up the task of the satirest.

Much more to the ride quality "question" (the one that wasn't asked) is the geometry changes that this fork might result in. Again I don't think the weight reduction will be the big difference. And if you don't treat the fork like burley suspension one it will likely last a while. Andy.

Gruppo, What part of: "Have you heard of a company (out of Taiwan, apparently) called Elite?" do you not get? Just answer yes or no.

Andrew, thanks for making me not look like an idiot for being specific about the weight.
I will contrast the difference in rake (if any) between my current fork and this one. Good idea.

Huey, I couldn't find a carbon fork with linear-pull bosses on it.

I figure I'll go with this fork. Hey, you only die once, right? ;)

Kinesis has an alloy fork that is even lighter,
but their distribution is kind of funny: (Most of their stuff is OEM).
I won't say exactly how much lighter it is, because I don't want to upset anyone.

The "elite" ? name means nearly zero.. It's used so often..

what is in a brand name any more?

If there is no link to what you are talking about, I'm not going to look for it for you.

Bob, I posted a link above at "#8".

The forks in your link are 29ers and are disc-only. I use 26" wheels and linear pulls. Thanks anyway.:)

Okay. No one's heard of Elite. That's what I needed to know.
