Is a RX100 hub compatible with 8 speed cassette?

I'm looking to upgrade my 7s cog to 8s, but before I do it, I wonder if the RX100 hub is wide enough for 8s cog? thanks

Does the current freehub body take a 7-speed cassette with no spacers? If so, it will not take an 8-speed cassette which is wider. You will have to change the freehub body, recenter the axle and redish the wheel.

No, but in some cases the 7-speed freehub can be replaced with an 8,9,10 speed freehub. Or the wheel may be rebuilt with an 8,9,10-speed hub. Or it may make more sense to replace the entire rear wheel. Of course the shifters, chain, and bar tape will have to be replaced to match the cassette. At which point it may make more sense to leave the bike with the 7-speed RSX or buy a new bike.

edit: HillRider hit the post key before I did.

You are right AL, its too much trouble to upgrade a 8s, i will just ride it as a 7 speed, which is still pretty good

Yes, 7-speed RSX is good stuff, but the shifters won't last forever.

The bike I bought actually comes with a DA 7400 sti shifter, but it worked pretty well on a 7s cog surprisingly. If its not too much trouble i would like to upgrade to 8s cog since the shifter is 8s, but looks like I can just stick with 7s.
