Requesting assistance finding a new crank set.
Hey Bike Forums,
I am somewhat new to the bike game and I am interested in getting a new crank set due to my current set being a brand-less stock set that has A LOT of flex to it.. I would love a sturdier pair. The issue is, I'm not too sure what kind of BB and Crank set to get.
Here are the specs (that I don't understand too well) on my bike frame:
MATARO LOW ? Aventón Bikes
I would love some help if possible, thanks guys!
Regards,
ZNY

The key information about the BB is right there:68mm Bottom Bracket, English Thread. Anything described as that will fit in the frame.
Next issue is chain line, which the online spec doesn't mention. Try measuring yours. It's the distance from the midline of the frame to the midline of the chainring.
Now go shopping for something to meet these two data points.
But really, while not impossible, actually feeling crank flex is quite rare. It wasn't much of an issue during the era of elegantly milled I-beam profile cranks.
Are your cranks the same as on the pic? FSA Track. There's nothing principally bad about FSA stuff, so I'm kinda surprised at your issue.
For strong riders, frame/rear triangle flex is a more common issue.

If that is your bike in the picture that is not a brandless crank it is an FSA carbon and should not be flexing.

That is a confusing website - appears to be only frame specs but picture is of entire bike, and $289 would fit a frame-only price. What crankset is on the bike - pic if you don't know. I also agree that problematic flex would be very unusual, especially on a track crankset.

Gee, I didn't know bikes like that existed at that price. Anyway, I'd be looking in general at Shimano, Sugino and Stronglight.
EDIT: I just saw the post above. It might be the frame only price.

That picture is on the official site and is not a picture of my bike. I'm sure that if I had an FSA crank I would not feel this problem. The crankset I have is a all black brand less set. I could flex the pedal arms with my bare hands.. and I am not a muscle man at all lol.

Thank you you've been very helpful. I have one question though.. what is the "midline" of the frame? I should probably just Google it.. loll

components - cranksets | chainrings | Retrogression
Any of those will be good. I used the cheap Andel on my fixie for $100 and it was very stiff. Good value
