First Rebuild Tips

Hello, I am planning on doing a rebuild and repaint of my current road bike now that it is going into colder weather. I am planning on doing it all my self and was just wondering if you guys had any advice. It is a vintage bike, so I am planning on replacing the chain and bottom bracket. I also have been thinking of replacing all bearings. If I was to replace the bearings, what tools/supplies would I need? Thanks for any help given and if needed, I can post pictures and more information.

You may want to ask a more specific question -- include pictures of the parts you are planning on servicing as we have no idea what you have.

strip the frame, get a pro to paint it. home done paint jobs look like crap from closer than 10 feet.

If it is a lugged frame, consider a thin powder coat, with the lugs outlined or an different color (can be a liquid on top of the powder).

If it is not lugged, get a heavy powder coat.

Alternatively, consider Electroless Nickel. Stop rust + wear on road + mountain bikes | Electroless Nickel Plating

Tools - depends on what is currently on the bike, and what you are going to replace it with. You have to tell us.

Powder is more durable than any other form of painting.

"Vintage" can mean anything from 1999 to 1899. A much more specific description of what make, model and year bike you have and what components are now on it is necessary before any useful help can be provided.
