This is just a curiosity question. If I could I would award you big brownie points for the correct answer! The part in question is this,

There's a cable end cap or whatever you call that, so there is a sense of scale here. The parts in question are rubber pieces. I believe they came with bulk cable housing.

Well the black thing too. Everything except the cable cap thing is made of rubber.

Soft shell cable sleeves

I wonder why I couldn't google one image of a "soft shell cable sleeve"? :notamused:

Yes.. they are to keep bare runs of cable from doing damage to your frame.

Or, alternatively silly rubber things designed to keep me occupied at stop lights as I move them from the cable stop near the seat tube where they seem to aggregate, back out over the top of tube cables to save my paint should I decide to sit on my top tube.

It's spelled as one word, "softshell"

Hmmmmm........ seems like the precursor of the little black donut things that all seem to gravitate to the end of the cable opening then? I never seen these in action anywhere!

They look like Hydrocoptic Marzel Vanes to me.

Those go over the cable housing to protect the frame where the housing touches at the head tube and any other spot where the housing may rub the frame.

I'm guesing it's 'cause crabs don't got internets.

I am not certain but I think the black thing is a seal of some kind for the RD cable. Jagwire cables come with something similar but I never read the directions to see what it is for.

The rubber things fit over the housing.. they're bumpers to put where the housing may hit the side if the frame's headtube.

The black, pointy thing is a Jagwire rubber boot. It goes over nosed ferrules and is meant to keep water from running down a vertically mounted cable into the housing.
