adjustable stem for 1 1/4"

I have an older bike that I want to put an adjustable stem on but all I keep finding are ones that fit 1 1/8" necks. My handel bars are 25.4 and I can find ones that fit that side but I don't want to mess my bike up if i get one that is for the 1 1/8" and try to fit it on.

I want to rais my handel bars and it looks like that would be the easiest way to do what I want.

Any one have any suggestions where I can find one or another way to achieve a higher handelbar height that will fit my setup?

Thanks,

I found this: Nitto MT Column Adaptor for 1 1/4 Threaded Systems - Harris Cyclery bicycle shop - West Newton, Massachusetts but it is listed as out of stock. It may be available somewhere else.
The other thing you could do is find a steerer tube from a 1 1/8 fork, which should have an outside diameter to fit into your 1 1/4 fork, and cut a length of the steerer off and a slit down one side to make a shim. Then get any 1 1/8 quill style adjustable stem. I used this strategy to make a shim for my quill-to-threadless adaptor.

I don't think you'll find an adjustable stem for 1 1/4 steerer. That's what I have on my Santana Tandem and the best I could do was buy a high rise stem from Yellow Jersey in Madison WI.

p.s. I assumed you mean for threadless fork.

Riser handle bars might work.

Ah you have a 1.125" ID of a fork with a 1.25"OD.. wall thickness still 1/16"
ought to be easy enough to have a tube + wedge Made to do the same thing .

ask your Nearest Machine Shop.

How about giving a bit more information about the bike you have? 1 1/4" steer tubes are very very rare.

I have a Quintana Roo TeQuila and today I noticed that it looks like I have some spacers under the stem. I am guessing that I actually have a 1 1/8" tube and it is just he spacers that make it indicate larger when I measured it. I will check to verify but I thank that is it. Thanks for all of your help. It has been a while since I have had a road bike and some things have changed from the old 10 speeds of the 70/80's.
