Shimano bar end shifters work with Shimano Mtn Bike derailleur's?
I have a question concerning if the Shimano SL-BS64 Ultegra Bar End Shifter Set (8-Speed) would be compatible with Shimano Acera front derailleur (Triple) and on the rear, a 8 speed Shimano Deore LX derailleur?
I am thinking about building up a tadpole trike and when I have test ridden several trikes I liked bar end shifters better than twist grip shifters. I am thinking of using some of the components off of my mtn. bike on it.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Since the front shifter operates in friction mode, it's compatible with virtually any front derailleur.
Shimano's 8s rear shifters will operate road or mtb derailleurs (same with 9s, too). The company's road/mtb lines diverged with 10s, but you can use road 10s shifters with 9s mtb derailleurs.

Shimano's 10s Dyna-Sys derailleurs have different cable-pull requirements than the road 10s derailleurs. You can pair a road 10s shifter with a 9s derailleur, but you can't mate 10s road shifters with 10s mtb derailleurs (and vice-versa).
