Tire Replacement
I currently have 700 x 28 road tires on my bike. Looking to replace the tire with a wider more commuter type tire. Have been offered a 28 inch tire for great price. Will 28 inch tires fit on the same rim as my current tires?

They should fit no problem. Just make sure you have enough room on the frame so wider tires do not rub. Here is a pic of 700cX35 tires mounted on Araya 700cX25 rims.......

You want a tire sized 622-xx.
Your current tires are 622-28. You be the judge if you have enough room. |

Sheldon Brown's page on tire sizes is a good reference for tire size questions like these: Tire Sizing Systems |
28-inch is a vernacular term for 700c (622mm) tire in Europe. It refers to the diameter of the rim and tire, not the width. It is confusing that this size has so many names which contradict each other, numerically. All bike tires are supposed to have an ISO measurement listed on the sidewall. Yours need a 622, which refers to diameter. You must use this diameter, and you can't put another diameter tire on your rim. You do have a choice of widths. Your current tires probably say 622-28, and you could, for example, fit 622-32.
