I have used the Velox plugs...... 40 years ago, and still use them on current build.
How about $3.99 a pair.

Nitto. Functionally they're the same thing but classier and come in a variety of colors. About $18 - fashion doesn't come dirt cheap. Mine are silver.

Divide by the number of years they last and both options are effectively free.

Those Nittos are sure nice. I am assuming the outside is alloy, right?

One Issue I had with Velox is they go in easy, But once the hardware inside rusts a little, (it's all plain steel) the nut spins rather than Loosens, ... But,

A hardware item, a T Nut, has prongs to dig into the Rubber so it wont spin when you unscrew the bolt that threads Into It.

to re do tape and so forth ..

Champagne corks......that's ghetto
Not if it is actually real Champagne which means it has to come from The Champagne region of France .

Bob,, I've heard you say that before about Velox plugs, but the screw is so small you could drill the head off in a couple of seconds.
Regarding the Champagne corks.. you understand what you are saying, right.....those corks can only be put on French bikes, with French bars.

Ordered the Nittos in black. I agree that amortizing the cost at $18.99 plus free shipping make the purchase a no-brainer.

Thanks to all who contributed to the thread.

Not all OE/stock plugs are created equally. I've found that the plugs that come with Octto, Planet Bike, and Zipp bar tape tend stay put better than most.
