Switching Cassettes/ Wheels and compatible freehubs?

Well, under the careful guidance of helpful friends on here I ordered the Fr5 and chain whip to help take of cassettes and clean them or change wheels.
Just wondering but would a stock wheel with the stock freehub off of a normal 8 speed (sora?) group work if I try to put a 10 speed cassette on it? Would it just not fit because of different indentations on the hub? I've never really done this before but just figure an expert can weigh in before I try it. If the hub fits the cassettes would it be safe to assume that it will work? I have a extra rear wheel from a friend with a 8/9 speed campy cassette on it and was also wondering if the hub is compatible with 8/9/10 speed shimano stuff before I dismantle it. I tried googling which freehubs were stock but it's not really listed. Thanks.

Campy & Shimano are not compatible.

Shiman/SRAM use the same freehub for 8, 9 or 10 speed.
10 speed cassette requires a thin spacer between cassette & hub.
