Clamp adapter for braze-on?

I'm doing a build with a frame that requires a clamp-on front derailleur but my groupset has a braze-on.

Logically to me it seems like a clamp-on derailleur would be inherently more stable since the clamp is integrated into the mech.

But maybe it's not such a big deal and running the braze-on with an adapter isn't appreciably different in performance?

What is the hive's experience/opinion here?

The adapters work fine. No difference in performance when correctly mounted and secured in my experience.

+1 Adapters are very solid and sturdy and there is no performance penalty for using one. A benefit is that braze-on fd are a bit cheaper and the adapter lets you mount one on a wide variety of frames.

Makes zero difference, as the clamp on adapter becomes the clamp.

Clamp-on deraileurs are a bit of a legacy item, no need for them on any modern bike, all they do is limit the ability to be swapped with another frame in the future, given the choice, would fit a band on with adapter every time.

& the adapter + FD has been allowing the inter face to rotate the parts relative to each other (done with wedges between the Parts)

Of benefit to Mfgr, make 1 of the relatively expensive piece & several sizes of band clamps...

I have 1 FD adapter made to clamp on the Brompton seat post, custom brazed together, Made to compensate for the seat post passing behind the BB
rather than aligned directly into it, in bikes that dont fold, telescoping the seat post .

simpler to make that piece, than a whole new FD type, for a small shop.
