Grease (part 2)

I was able to get to my BB tonight and once I got the cranks off and saw white grease, it made me lean towards using the same kind. Purely for warranty purposes because I know how specific manufactures and LBS can be. They want it their way.

Can someone tell if this is lithium or teflon? I believe those are the only white greases (?), and whichever it is, what brand would most bike shops use as far as popularity in cycling is concerned.

You are WAY WAY WAY overthinking this.

From the color I suspect it's a lithium based grease, since the teflon greases tend to be a whiter white, but you asked earlier and got a strong consensus that there was tremendous latitude in what would be acceptable. As for the bike shop choices, they too would be across the board.

If you clean out the old grease from the bearings and cups and use a high quality grease to replace it you should be fine.I use a product called (MPC) PL-10 a extreme pressure lithium complex grease. It works well under adverse conditions like BB's and hubs. There are many other choices the most important one is the maintenance itself.
