"connection request" - problems connecting 6870 Di2 to PC

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all!

I'd like to play with the config of the Ultegra 6870 Di2 system on my new bike... but despite Windows showing the device as present the e-tube app doesn't progress beyond the "connection request" popup shown below.

Things I'd tried:
- Windows 7 and 8
- Various versions of the software including 2.3 and 2.9
- Connecting just the battery to the box (it's an internal battery by the way, with three ports on the box)
- Turning it on and off again
- Swearing

But all to no avail. Any ideas? All help greatly received.

[PS I created an identical thread in the road bike forum and they recommended I post here]

bike rumor said they had problems unless both cables were hooked up. That's the only thing I saw that looked like it might be helpful How To: Update Shimano Di2 to Multishift, Customize Button Function & Change Shift Speed

Thanks - good spot. Mine's the newer 6780 however which in theory shouldn't need the SM-PCE1 breakout box (the charger+splitter should be fine). Having said that, perhaps I don't have any choice and that's what my LBS will have to use...
