11 speed chain, 10 speed chainrings.
Will it work? Just curious, had my eye on the new 105 11 speed setup, but I dislike the crankset and was thinking of using something else.

When Shimano went to 11 speed, they did not change the thickness of the chainrings or cassette cogs, so an 11 speed chain will work on 10 speed chainrings. However, the chainrings of a 10 speed crank are slightly farther apart than the chainrings of an 11 speed crank. Shifting might occasionally be baulky

The difference between 10s and 11s chains is about 0.4mm. Not enough to make any difference using a narrower chain... OTOH, using a 10s chain on a 11s drivetrain, might cause increased chain rub riding crossed small/small.
